PADI Tec Trimix 65 Course

PADI Tec Trimix 65 Course in Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia & Delaware

PADI Tec Trimix 65 introduces the use of trimix for deeper technical diving and prepares divers to plan and execute technical dives to a maximum of 65m / 210ft using trimix as a bottom gas, with decompression procedures and disciplined team protocols.

Southern Maryland Divers trains Trimix candidates from across the Mid-Atlantic with a focus on fundamentals, conservative decision-making, clean procedures, and calm execution in real conditions.

What Is Trimix?

Trimix is a breathing gas that includes oxygen, nitrogen, and helium. Helium reduces narcosis at depth and helps technical divers maintain clearer thinking and better control during deeper dives.

Trimix training also increases the importance of disciplined planning, gas management, decompression procedures, and team protocols—because the margin for error shrinks as depth increases.

What You’ll Learn in Tec Trimix 65

This course focuses on planning and executing deeper technical dives using trimix, with strong emphasis on procedure, run-time control, and conservative decision-making.

  • Trimix dive planning fundamentals (depth, narcosis management, and gas selection)
  • Advanced decompression procedures and run-time discipline
  • Team protocols, communication, and problem management under task loading
  • Equipment configuration consistency and failure management at depth
  • Practical execution skills: stable stops, clean gas switches, controlled ascents

Is Tec Trimix 65 Right for You?

Trimix 65 is for divers with stable fundamentals who want to extend depth capability with disciplined procedures. It’s a good fit if you:

  • Have completed Tec 50 (or equivalent technical training)
  • Can hold decompression stops precisely without sculling or drifting
  • Maintain trim and awareness while task loaded and under stress
  • Prefer conservative planning and repeatable team procedures

If your buoyancy and trim still take active effort, fix that first with Peak Performance Buoyancy before stepping into Trimix.

Trimix Training for Mid-Atlantic Conditions

Mid-Atlantic technical diving often includes cold water, limited visibility, current, and challenging surface conditions. These factors increase task loading and demand disciplined procedures and calm execution.

Training in these conditions prepares divers for real-world expedition diving—especially deeper wreck environments where teamwork, control, and conservative decisions matter.

What Comes After Tec Trimix 65?

Many divers continue into deeper trimix pathways, rebreather training, or expedition-focused diving. If you’re building a long-term plan, we’ll help you map prerequisites and progression safely.

Tec Trimix 65 FAQs

Why use helium (trimix) instead of air or nitrox?

Helium reduces narcosis at depth, helping divers maintain clearer thinking, better control, and more consistent decision-making during deeper dives.

Is Tec Trimix 65 only for “hardcore” divers?

It’s for disciplined divers with stable fundamentals who want deeper technical capability. The focus is conservative planning, strong procedures, and calm execution—not bravado.

Do I need special equipment?

Yes. Trimix training requires a full technical configuration and strict equipment consistency. Your instructor will confirm required gear and gas planning expectations prior to training.
